Terms & Conditions

Verdalis is a Bristol-based business run by me, Emily. I offer a professional decluttering and organising, eco-friendly cleaning, and gardening service. This generally refers to working alongside you (the client) to offer my services. All work is directed by you (the client), as are any decisions about what to dispose of or donate, where relevant.

The following are terms of a legal agreement between you and Verdalis. By accessing, browsing and/or using this website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree, to be bound by these terms and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Verdalis Services

Information about the Verdalis services, prices and other commercial information can be found on my website: www.verdalis.co.uk. Verdalis services will be provided as described on my website or as agreed upon by email between us before the service is delivered or during the course of the provision of the service.
 

The following terms and conditions apply to my provision of the Verdalis services. If you have any questions about the terms or Verdalis services I would be pleased to answer these and can be contacted on: hello@verdalis.co.uk.
 

Booking and Payments

Booking Confirmation: Your booking is confirmed once we agree on the service details and you receive a confirmation email or message from me.
 

  • Payment Terms: Payment is due within 7 days of the service being completed. Payment must be made online using the details provided on your invoice.
     

  • Late Payment: If payment is not received within 7 days of the completion of the service, I reserve the right to suspend any future services until the invoice is settled in full. If I'm unable to collect any payment that you owe Verdalis, I charge interest on the overdue amount at 5% per week (7 day period starting from the date of the service). This interest will accrue until the date of actual payment of the overdue amount, whether before or after judgment. You would pay me the accrued interest together with any overdue amount. 
     

Cancellation and Rescheduling

You may cancel or reschedule your booking up to 48 hours before the scheduled service. Cancellations made between 24 to 48 hours before the scheduled appointment time will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment charge. Cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time will incur a cancellation fee of the full appointment charge.
 

I'm not responsible for delays outside my control. If unforeseen circumstances beyond my control (e.g. severe weather, illness, or supply chain disruptions) prevent me from delivering the agreed services, I will inform you promptly. If the issue persists for more than 7 days, we will discuss the best way to proceed, including the option to terminate the agreement without penalty.
 

Termination

It’s your legal right to change your mind. For most of my services you have 14 days after the date I confirm your booking to change your mind about a purchase, but you lose the right to cancel any service when it's been completed (and you must pay for any services provided up to the time you cancel). If you do sadly change your mind I would be grateful if you could contact me as soon as possible, using the contact details provided above. 
 

You can end an on-going contract. I will tell you when and how you can end an on-going contract with Verdalis (for example, for regular services) during the booking process and I will confirm this information to you in writing after I've accepted your booking. If you have any questions, please contact me using the details provided above.
 

You have rights if there is something wrong with the Verdalis service. If you think there is something wrong with the Verdalis service, contact me as soon as possible. Your rights are subject to certain exceptions. For detailed information please visit the Citizens Advice website www.citizensadvice.org.uk. Remember too that you have several options for resolving disputes with Verdalis, should they arise.
 

Changes to the Verdalis Services

I can change my services and these terms. I can always change a Verdalis service:
 

  • to reflect changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirement; and

  • to make minor technical adjustments and improvements, for example to address a security threat. These are changes that don't affect your use of the service.
     

I may also make amendments to the services offered and the prices that I charge. The changes will be made to the appropriate section on my website and I will draw your attention to them before they take effect. If the changes affect services that I provide to you, and you do not wish to continue receiving the services, you can then contact me to end the contract before the change takes effect and receive a full refund for any services you've paid for in advance, but not received.
 

I can suspend the supply of a service (and you have rights if I do). I may do this to:
 

  • deal with technical problems or make minor technical changes;

  • update the service to reflect changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements; or

  • make changes to the service.
     

I can withdraw services and stop providing a service. I would let you know at least 48 hours in advance. I can end my contract with you for a service and claim any compensation due to Verdalis if:
 

  • you don't make any payment to me when it's due and you still don't make payment within 7 days of reminding you that payment is due; or

  • you don't, within a reasonable time of asking for it, provide me with information, cooperation or access that I need to provide the service, for example instructions about your house or relevant access to it.
     

Health and Safety

I recommend that you move or secure fragile, valuable or sentimental items if it is possible that these will be within my space of work and do not form part of the services. I am unable to move or lift very large items.  If this is required, you may need to arrange additional help from other parties. 
 

I require a safe and clear working environment. Please inform me of any potential hazards before the service begins. I reserve the right to stop work if conditions are unsafe. I take great care when working in your home or garden. However, to the fullest extent permitted by law I am not responsible for damage to personal property unless it is caused by my negligence or a breach of my obligations.
 

Compensation for loss

I’m responsible for losses you suffer caused by Verdalis breaking this contract unless the loss is:
 

  • Unexpected. It was not obvious that it would happen and nothing you said to me before your booking was accepted meant I should have expected it (so, in the law, the loss was unforeseeable).

  • Caused by a delaying event outside my control. As long as I have taken the steps set out in the section I’m not responsible for delays outside my control. 

  • Avoidable. Losses that could have been avoided, by taking reasonable action, including following my reasonable instructions. 
     

Verdalis holds both Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance for your peace of mind.

 

  • Public Liability Insurance up to £1 million, to cover claims for injury or property damage that may occur during on-site work.

  • Professional Indemnity Insurance up to £100,000 to protect against claims relating to the professional advice, designs, or services I provide.
     

Other Suppliers and Services

On occasion, I may recommend the services, or provide contact details for other service providers to you but I will not accept any responsibility for their performance or liability for any fees payable for their services or for any loss or damage that they may cause.  For the avoidance of doubt, any contractual arrangements will be made directly between you and the supplier.
 

Confidentiality and Safeguarding

All information and conversations are kept completely confidential. The only circumstances in which your information may be shared is if:
 

  • there appears to be a risk of harm to yourself or anyone else.

  • there is evidence of a vulnerable person at risk of harm.

  • there is evidence of criminal activity.
     

If you have other professionals working with you, and would like me to liaise with them I am happy to do so with your express permission. 
 

Data Protection

I will use your personal data as set out in my Privacy Policy.
 

Dispute Resolution

You have several options for resolving disputes with Verdalis.
 

  • My complaints policy: I will do my best to resolve any problems you have with Verdalis or the Verdalis services promptly. 

  • Resolving disputes without going to court: I hope this does not become necessary but if it is required then we may use alternative dispute resolution, which is an optional process where an independent body considers the facts of a dispute and seeks to resolve it, without you having to go to court. If you're not satisfied with the outcome you can still go to court. 

  • You can go to court: These terms are governed by English law and wherever you live you can bring claims against Verdalis in the English courts. If you live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims against Verdalis in the courts of the country you live in. I can claim against you in the courts of the country you live in.
     

Other important terms that apply 
 

Nobody else has any rights under this contract. This contract is between you and Verdalis. Nobody else can enforce it and neither of us will need to ask anybody else to sign off on ending or changing it.
 

If a court invalidates some of this contract, the rest of it will still apply. If a court or other authority decides that some of these terms are unlawful, the rest will continue to apply.
 

Even if I delay in enforcing this contract, I can still enforce it later. I might not immediately chase you for not doing something (like paying) or for doing something you're not allowed to, but that doesn’t mean I can't do it later.
 

The contents of these pages (including pictures, designs, logos, photographs, text written and other materials) are the copyright trademark or registered trademark of Verdalis or its content and technology providers or their respective owners. The copying, modification, distribution, reproduction, or incorporation into any other work of part or all of the material available on this website in any form is prohibited.
